Intereference effects on Z-shaped Model Support Sting Data

In this paper a brief discussion of the forms of interference occurring in subsonic and transonic test section of the wind tunnel T-38 due to the model support system is given. Two types of model attachments, rear normal sting and Z-shaped sting, are considered. Shapes and magnitude of interference are given for particular examples. Except at the axial force coefficient CA, the main interference is at the pitching moment coefficient Cm. A procedure for eliminating the undesired effect is given in this paper.
