Dynamic testing of target tracking device drives

The dynamics of target tracking device highly influences the quality of the complete process of target tracking. Requirements to the tracking device, especially those related to its dynamic behavior, are very strict, which gives the importance to the determination of measures of performance of tracking device servo-drives, based on laboratory testing. A number of servo-drive measures of performance that should be part of tactical and technical requirements are defined. The procedures of testing of servo-drive dynamics in time and frequency domain, as well as the procedure of estimation of unknown technical and construction parameters of servomechanisms, are described. The sample results of testing of an experimental model of tracking device illustrate given procedures. A number of advises and recommendations on how to apply considered procedures successfully are given as well.
