Liapunov stability of linear discrete descriptive systems: retrospective of results

Descriptive systems are mathematically presented as a combination of difference and algebraic equations, the latter being a constraint which a general solution ought to satisfy at any moment. There are descriptive systems in almost all engineering branches but they are less frequent than continual ones. They frequently occur in electromagnetic fields, optimization problems, continuous system discretization procedures and in the boundary case of singularly-perturbed systems. A detailed, chronological survey of results concerning Liapunov stability of this system class is given in the paper.
