Time of arrival estimation of the gunfire shock OR BLAST waves at the large distances

Abstract: Estimation of the time of arrival of the gun fire shock waves  at large distances is significant in all cases when the purpose is localization of the gun. The time of arrival of the shock waves is commonly estimated at different and known positions at the terrain of interest. Based on these estimations, it is possible to calculate possible position of the gun. At large distances, greater than 10 km or less, shock wave signal is significantly deformed and therefore is relatively hard task to estimate real time of arrival. In this paper methods are proposed, which are based on cumulants of the acoustic signal whose origin is distant gunfire events.
