Abstract: Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) based on the finite volume method were used in order to obtain the aerodynamic characteristics of a jet nozzle. After the transient CFD results were gained the Ffowcs Williams-Hawking formulation for far-field noise modeling was used for aeroacoustic computation. A grid sensitivity was done and different turbulence models were tested. The obtained results were then compared with publicly available experimental data after which a conclusion was derived.

Keywords: computational aeroacoustics, computational fluid dynamics, jet noise.
