Abstract:The aim of this paper is modeling of stationary axisymmetric flow of a viscous fluid with intense volumetric heat generation. The mathematical model is based on the balance equations of mass, momentum and energy for parabolic flow in the porous media. System of differential equations that represent mathematical model is solved numerically, using the method of control volumes. Prediction of the spatial distribution of velocity and temperature of the fluid is performed, for coolant conditions, in the active core of the pressurized water reactor (Westinghouse reactor, nuclear power plant Krsko), at various inlet velocity profiles. Obtained results show that the heat conduction in the radial direction is negligible in relation to the mechanisms of volumetric heat generation and convective heat transport, for the axial flow with intense volume heat source.

Keywords: parabolic flow, numerical solution, volume heat source .
