Abstract: Newly radio-relay devices, which are used in the units of the Serbian Army, are software-controlled devices. They are maded on the basis of modern production technologies and provide a range of benefits in the management and maintenance including the possibility of remote control of appliances.Tthis property can be used to form the modern concept of maintaining these types of devices and enhance the system of assistance on the lower levels of maintenance. Using the advantages of modern radios, in this paper is suggested the model for assistens for lower levels on the maintenance of radios via remote control and readout results of self-test and the parameters monitored in the work unit. In this way we get a significant savings in time and availability of equipment resources and capacity of higher levels of maintenance. Access to radios, to obtain data  necessary for checking the correctness of the device, is achieved through radio-relay link or over a secure computer network.
