Analysis of the target distance estimation based on image size measurements

Abstract: Distance estimation algorithm based on image size measurement is analyzed in this paper. Image acquisition is done by one stationary passive sensor – thermal camera. Distance to the target is estimated according to known initial distance and target size in the camera’s frame. Experimental results of distance estimation for an airborne target are presented.
