Abstract:   Product lifecycle management (PLM) approach can be applied to a military aircraft like on any other industrial product. PLM as a business concept was developed to manage a product,  including not only items, documents, and BOM’s, but also analysis results, performance information, quality standards, test specifications, change orders, engineering requirements, manufacturing procedures, component suppliers, etc. However, there is no unique and universal PLM solution that can be used in any company and its work processes, therefore each company has to find its own way to PLM introduction and implementation.  Identification of all relevant activities and work processes during airplane design is primary task. In this paper a procedure undertaken in order to define algorithm that would be basic model for further PLM introduction is shown. Initial phase in the design of trainer airplane was chosen and explained as a case study. Several benefits and effects of PLM solution introduction were pointed out. Steps taken during PLM introduction into design of a military trainer airplane were described.
