Abstract: An engineering procedure is proposed for estimating the crack growth behavior and fatigue lives of the plate with one or two-symmetric corner cracks subjected to tensile loading.  In fatigue analysis, crack depth direction is investigated. Stress intensity factors are calculated by applying analytical and numerical approaches. Constant amplitude loading and load spectrum were considered.  The proposed procedure is validated with available crack growth data. The comparison between the predictions and experimental data leads to very good correlation.  Furthermore, the effect of thickness on fatigue life up to failure of the plate is analyzed.
