The results of experimental investigation of the influence of model support shape on the determination of aerodynamic coefficients of a wind tunnel model are presented. The testing was performed in the T-38 wind tunnel. A torpedo model was chosen as a test object, as well as two shapes of model-support adapters. The test Mach number was 0.3.
Aerodynamic forces and moments were measured with a six-component balance. Flow visualization was included as a part of the experiment. Its purpose was to record a flow pattern around the model, and to show the influence of the model support on the flow around the rear part of the model, where depth and direction control surfaces were located. Oil emulsion films were used for flow visualization in the boundary layer.

Key words: wind tunnel, subsonic flow, flow visualization
