Basic finner model pitch – damping characteristics measurement in the T-38 trisonic wind tunnel

Wind tunnel tests were conducted on the Basic finner model at the Mach numbers 0.2 to 2.0. A pitch-damping test mechanism based on small amplitude, and forced-oscillation technique was used for obtaining stability derivatives of the model at the angles of attack up to 20 degrees. The pitch-damping derivatives were found to be a highly non-linear function of the angle of attack. Due to a reasonably high interest of measurement of dynamic stability derivatives in the T-38 trisonic wind tunnel in the MTI, wind tunnel tests were conducted for investigation and verification of the pitch/yaw damping test mechanism. Tests results are compared with other experimental sources and calculated results.
