This work presents a new approach in the theoretical analysis and interpretation of the eclipse effects. The impact of the eclipsing effect on the radar compression filter response can be explained through the chirp radar ambiquity function. When the MM RLS algirithm for the chirp compression filter design was applied, low sidelobe level and better range resolution were obtained with respect to the solution based on the windowing function. In this manner, the possibility of the true target detection and target tracking efficiency in the eclipsing zone are increased.
