This paper presents the selected copper lattice protective system used as base for the active mass and the negative electrode flow collector in the traction lead batteries. This protective system uses PbSnZn alloy as coating for the sub – layer and lead for the top layer. The efficiency of the selected protective system is confirmed through corrosion tests in SO2 atmosphere and H2SO4 , as well as through practical tests on model batteries. The comparative testing of the model with negative electrode lattice made of lead-antimony alloy, i.e. expanded copper on which the given protective system has been applied beforehand, has demonstrated the specific energy growth by 15% and the absence of corrosion on the models with expanded copper lattice.
