LAYOUT OF NUMERICAL AND PROGRAM SOLUTION OF A NEW PROFILE OF RIFLED BARRELS

The procedure of determining a new profile of the projectile driving band in the rifled barrel has been presented. Common working conditions of the driving band during firing have been described as well as wear, coppering and structural discontinuity factors which rapidly reduce barrel life cycle. Criteria for the estimation of the driving band optimum geometry have been defined. Derived stress equations obtained by the shell theory application to the projectile jacket are used as well as the equations of specific load to the working side of grooves obtained using the equation of motion and the overall reaction of ther field to the jacket. The calculation is implemented into a theoretical and experimental model of interior ballistics and realized by the application of FORTRAN.
