MINERALOGY AND MICROSTRUCTURE OF SINTERED LIGNITE COAL FLY ASH

Enormous quantities of fly ash are produced as indispensable waste during the coal burning at thermopower plants each year. Samples of fly ash from the thermopower plant „Nikola Tesla” from Yugoslavia were investigated in this paper. Fly ash was sintered at the temperatures of 1130-1190°C. The characterization of raw ash was performed. The physico-chemical properties of the obtained sintered samples were tested. Special attention  was payed to the determination of mineralogical composition of sintered samples and the investigation of microstructure…
