Measurements of flow velocity distribution and turbulation levels in glass tubes of different shapes, dimensions and glass quality have been carried out by the Laser Doppler Anemometry technique. The main objective of the experiment was to illustrate possibilities offerred by this method and to focus attention on some problems from practice, which can degrade measurement quality and accuracy. The stress is on the dislocation of the measuring volume, the system decalibration and the increase of the signal-to-noise ratio.
