IMPORTANCE OF FRACTOGRAPHIC TESTS IN DESIGN OF METAL ELEMENTS AND CONSTRUCTIONS

The application of fractographic tests in design of metal elements and constructions has been presented as well as in material quality control. The principal characteristics of fractures during macrofractographic, microfracto-graphic and metalographic analyses have been presented as well as their usage for the determination of the fracture initiation. The paper also gives recommendations for handling, cutting, cleaning, storing and opening of fractured surfaces.
