SEVENTY YEARS OF THE MILITARY TECHNICAL INSTITUTE

Abstract: This year the Military Technical Institute of the Republic of Serbia marks seventy years of its existence. Based on the realized projects, it is for sure the most significant scientific-technical institution in the area of the Southeast Europe and also one of the most significant institutions of this type in the world.

Since its establishment, on November 3^rd, 1948, up to nowadays, based on the projects the Institute developed for the operational use of the Serbian Armed Forces, as well as of armies of other countries in different continents, almost 1500 systems and components of war technology were introduced. The Institute has reached the most significant  achievements in the area of aviation, classical and rocket artillery, as well as in the area of combat and non-combat vehicles.

This monograph shows the most significant realized projects of the war technique behind which there is a scientific research institution of a small country such as Serbia. Beside describing the Institute's activities, in an introductory part the most significant data of the last 200 years in development of Serbian military, or actually defense industry, will be listed.

Except of the introductory part the monograph contains following chapters: classical armament, rocket armament, combat and non-combat vehicles, aircraft and aircrafts systems, telecommunication, radar, computer and optoelectronic systems, CBRN defense systems, engineering systems, naval systems, construction and energetic materials, informatics and information technologies.
