Apstrakt:
The primary objective of the cumulative scientific and technical information under the heading "CURRENT RIVER WARSHIPS" is to present an overview of modern river vessels of war to military and professional audience, including their basic characteristics, tactical and technical data, features in comparison to warships at sea, as well as trends and tendencies of development of this type of vessels. The aim is also to introduce the current command of the Republic of Serbia with different approaches in relation to planning and development of defense resources in the navigable rivers, demonstrate how different relationships influence the specific tasks and how the concepts of vessels and ship combat systems are used to perform these tasks. The information should also encourage, on one hand, those dealing with the military sciences (tactics and operational art) to consider different approaches and tactical development and implementation of operations elements of vessels on the rivers in defensive and offensive operations; on the other hand it is
aimed at the specialists in military and technical sciences providing the answer regarding the concept of the platform of choice and adequate ship combat system for the execution of assignments set before them. Finally, the answers to these questions should instigate the development of river resources of the Republic of Serbia in the form of vessels, which will in the near and distant future, guarantee the protection of navigable waterways from the challenges and risks that the future times bring.
