SPINNING: SPECIFIC METAL FORMING TECHNOLOGY FOR MISSILE COMPONENTS

Milutin Nikacevic

Ljubica Radovic

Abstract:
Spinning is a method of flat sheet metal blanks forming into other seamless hollow
cylinders, cones, hemispheres or the other circular shapes by a combination of rotation and forces. Whereas with conventional spinning little or no wall thickness
reduction occurs, with shear forming and flow forming a deliberate reduction in the
wall thickness of the final components when compared with the blank is obtained.
The reduction in the wall thickness does not need to be uniform along the longitudinal axis so it is possible to obtain more complex shapes.
The processes including wall thickness reduction are more interesting and often indispensable in the missile parts production (ballistic cap, warhead shells, jet engine parts, rocket nose cones, rocket nozzles, tubes of the tank, liquid or gas tanks and parts of turbines and many other parts) amd will be therefore given a detailed analyzed here.

Key words: spinning, cone, cylinder, rocket.
