CORROSION PROTECTION OF LIQUID PETROLEUM FUEL RESERVOIRS

Abstract
Liquid petroleum fuels reservoirs are subjected to numerous and severe corrosional influences. There are significant limitations and difficulties in the corrosion protective works, due to design characteristics, working conditions in the field and technological capabilities. Used structural materials are of low corrosion resistant type. Damages and deteriorations caused by corrosion are hard to detect, progresive by nature and fatal in consequences. Having in mind these reasons, all relevant factors that affect the corrosion protective coatings design and definition were concerned. The comparative characteristics study of paints produced in domestic industry, chosen as ones that meet concerned demands, shows a possibility of optimum choice of coatings for protection of individual constituent elements. A detailed procedure of corrosion protection project design is suggested.
