Cryptographic Aspect of Data Security in Modern Computer Systems Goran Đorđrvić Milan Marković
This paper presents some of potential data security attacks in distributed computer systems. A brief overview of symmetrical and asymmetrical cryptographic procedures is given as well as public key infrastructure systems designed to establish reliable digital identity of all subjects within computer network, specified in a form of digital certificate. In this work, possible optimization techniques of the RSA algorithm realization are considered. Possibility of applying Karatsuba-Offman’s algorithm in Montgomery’s Modular Multiplication is analyzed as well as its use in Miller-Rabin’s primality number tests. Also, the improvements of the RSA private key operation based on the Chinese Remainder Theorem (CRT) application are considered. Possibilities of efficient realization of symmetrical AES and IDEA block cipher algorithms applied in four basic cryptographic modes are evaluated. The paper also gives a survey of basic characteristic for cryptographics hardware solutions of foreign producers which are implemented in modern computer networks. A conceptual solution of the cryptographic coprocessor module with a detailed explanation for each component of a given module is shown. Keywords: Computer System, Data Security, Cryptography, Coprocessor, Digital Signal Processor, Cryptographic Algorithm.
