MONOPULSE TRACKING RADAR JAMMING BY JAMMING CLOUDS

Čedomir Gacov

Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the influence of jamming clouds on all kinds of tracking radars based on the principle of monopulse radiolocation. The main goal is to analyze the behavior of tracking radars in air defense systems, as well as AA missiles and antiradar missiles in the circumstances when jamming clouds are used. The mathematical and physical interpretation of jamming clouds is given with the statistical properties of the angular error concerning different characteristics of jamming points in jamming clouds. The influence of the intensity distribution of jamming points signals is determined with respect to the angular error. The detailed analysis was carried out on the basis of the obtained results concerning a possible use of modern air defense systems when jamming clouds are applied.

Key words: tracking radar, monopulse radar, jamming, radar jamming, electronic jamming, density function, mathematical model, electronic countermeasures, air defense, antiradar missile, antiaircraft missile, homing missile, missile homing head.
