Properties and the application of silicon elastomers in civilian and military industry

Abstract:

Hot temperature vulcanizable silicone elastomers are characterized by some extraordinary characteristic properties such as: resistance to extremely high and low temperatures, low compression set, superior electroinsulation characteristics, resistance to oil, etc. Peroxide curing agents are used for the vulcanization of silicone rubbers. These elastomers are manufactured with classical equipment used in rubber industry for manufacturing natural and other synthetic rubbers for a long period of time. The structure and the properties of silicone elastomer blends as well as the methods of polymer and polymer blends are discussed in this work. The special attention is paid to silicone rubber blends with different rubbers. Silicone elastomers are used for manufacturing seals, corks, in electro industry, chemical industry, civil engineering and for other applications. The application of silicone elastomers in is of great importance protective equipment manufacturing.
